itSMF / ITSM Society of Malaysia-Chapter
ITSM Society of M'sia (ITSMS) is a registered Society body with ROS, Home ministry. This was officially approved in July 2009. ITSMS is a non-profit organization for Malaysian citizens, aged 21 and above. itSMF M'sia (itSMF; small letter ‘it'&SMF) is a subsidiary affiliation with itSMF International, headquartered in U.K. It stands as a chapter, due to the usage of the trademark logo “itSMF”. All management directives for itSMF M'sia comes from ITSMS.
itSMF / ITSMS is used concurrently. Where the society's Rules and Regulations apply, members will follow according to those rules. When ITSMS was formed, 7 members from 7 states applied. The said members will be in itSMF M'sia, whose names will be registered with itSMFI, who manages the international database information. ITSMF was established as a forum for Information Technology (IT) service/product providers, IT service/product users, and related parties to explore all means available to maximize IT business value.
Although itSMF Malaysia takes strategic direction from itSMF International, it operates under ITSMS's umbrella. This is within the Malaysian IT industry and its objectives must be relevant to that context.
Vision
The vision of itSMF M'sia is to be "the premier representative body for IT service management in Malaysia".
Mission Statement
The itSMF is a global forum whose aims are primarily:
• To develop and promote best practice in IT Service Management, engender professionalism within IT Service Management personnel,
• To provide members with a relevant forum in which to exchange information and share experiences with their peers,
• To liaise with other parties that share an interest in IT Service Management by providing a vehicle for helping members improve service performance.
Overall objectives
• To develop, accumulate, and disseminate knowledge and ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure library) and other best practices of the IT service management and related areas, by encouraging growth, standardization and recognition of IT Service Management,
• To recognize and reward individuals and organizations who make significant contributions to the advancement of best practices, standards and professionalism in IT Service Management,
• To provide mechanisms, formal and informal, which contribute to a culture of Continuing Professional Development,
• To provide the membership with a forum/ conference that enables them to exchange and share their views and experiences on the IT service management, by providing services such as advertising, database information support which can maximize IT business value of the member organizations,
• To be an active member of itSMF International / itSMF Asean, by participating in CMMI, Audit, IT Governance, Compliance, Service Management acitivities in the region, amongst others,
-We are sister chapters with ISACA M'sia organization, partners with IASA M'sia, partner with PMI M'sia chapter, partner with MNCC Society,
-We also are supported by MDEC, PIKOM and MOSTI.
Society Activities
The mission and objectives of the itSMF Malaysia will be achieved through the following activities.
1. Accumulating Knowledge/Best Practices
- to perform research projects, operate SIGs (Special Interest Groups),
- to translate global best practices, books, and journal articles into Malaysian,
- to maintain knowledge base of ITSM products, services, and training available both locally and internationally, and work closely with sister and partner societies.
